BUILDING SELECTION
- Select a building close to public transport (reduce car usage)
- Cycle storage/ showers to encourage people to cycle in
- Choose a building which has a recycling management system
- BREEAM rating?
- Close to amenities
MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL
- PIR sensors
- Water shut off valves
- Daylight sensors to the perimeter light fittings
- Low energy light fittings / mechanical systems
- Commissioning the systems once installed and once occupied
- Natural ventilation where possible
- Metering of systems
- Leak detection
FINISHES
- Low VOC paints/ varnishes/ adhesives
- Carpet/ Fabrics etc which contain recycled content
- Carpet/ Fabric etc which are recyclable at the end of their life
- Furniture/ fittings which have been made with low carbon method
- Products/ finishes which have been sourced from local manufacturers (less mileage etc)
- Linoleum as alternative to sheet vinyl (natural product)
- FSC/PEFC certified timber
- Re-use existing furniture/ fittings where possible to reduce amount of virgin material used
SPACE PLANNING
- Maximise the natural light
- Locate workstations close to windows and meeting rooms internally (natural light and desks)
- Build in locations for recycling
- Give people good views from their desk
- Maximise use of glazing to rooms (natural light)

- During the construction reduce amount of waste going to landfill
