MidOcean partners were formed by the buyout of Deutsche Bank Capital Partners from Deutsche Bank in April 2003. The resulting team were to relocate out of Deutsche Bank's City office in Bishopsgate and accordingly acquired new premises at 21 Grosvenor Place. Due to the speed with which MidOcean required to move into the new premises, Denton Associates were introduced to the client, and after a short period of speculative design and specification development, were formally appointed to execute the project.
MidOcean wanted a highly individual appearance which would look sophisticated, yet provide an excellent working environment for the specialist team. A truly outstanding scheme was developed with everything from partitioning to joinery details being bespoke. The main partition elements were finished in a highly polished chrome effect, with special attention being made to junction details to ensure the 'continuous' effect of the framing. Green silicon jointed glazed panels were installed into this framing with highly polished door furniture to compliment the finishes.
A limestone effect floor was laid to the reception area with a bespoke reception desk finished in polished stainless steel installed onto this. To supplement the existing recessed fluorescent lighting, a feature system of suspended tracks and uplighters were installed providing a strong aesthetic influence on the space.
The space was served by a chilled ceiling, with fresh air being distributed through the floor void. Special attention was paid to the detailing of the rezoning and sensing of the ceiling to ensure a comfortable working environment.
The project was a roaring success, with the client moving in on time and to the agreed budget. The quality of the scheme, coupled with MidOcean's delight at the completed scheme has provided Dentons with an exceptional reference project.
MidOcean subsequently employed Denton Associates in 2007 to design and fitout their new offices, which were required due to the continued expansion of the business.
