St. Paul's Churchyard, EC4
The Challenge
Shepherd + Wedderburn LLP is a leading UK Law firm, with 57 partners and 540 staff. They have offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Aberdeen. After undertaking a significant building search, a floor plate of 17,000 sq ft was chosen. Condor House, a landmark building overlooking St. Paul’s deserved an inspiring fit out whilst making the most of the wonderful views.
What we did
The design and subsequent fit out was a very interactive process involving a small steering committee but requiring ‘buy in’ from a much wider audience of senior partners. With full cost transparency and a separate professional team of project manager and quantity surveyor, Denton’s were able to satisfy the strict financial control requirements of the project.
The reception space needed to be both welcoming and impressive. A limestone effect flooring and innovative use of lighting gave a stunning first impression. This coupled with a shimmering ceiling in the Client waiting area invites visitors to view Christopher Wren’s masterpiece.
All aspects of the interior were considered by the design team including purpose designed work-wall benching systems within fee earners offices. This furniture solution increased the useable space in offices considerably and allowed the reuse of an expensive filing system.
Feedback
Denton have received excellent feedback from Shepherd + Wedderburn staff and visitors alike. The relationship with the Client was so strong that when the project finished ahead of programme and on budget Denton were invited back to work on Shepherd + Wedderburn’s Edinburgh headquarters office.
